Miami Dolphins Go Green

by C. Brahkowski on June 6, 2007

NFL.com is reporting that the Dolphins and Chiefs finally came to an agreement on the worth of Trent Green, that being a fifth round pick in 2008. KC can upgrade this to a fourth round pick if Green becomes a productive member of the Dolphins, by meetine pre-determined marks of playing time or performance levels.

It was just last season that Miami gave up a second round pick to Minnesota for Daunte Culpepper. Nick Saban (Miami’s coach at the time), was trying to decide between Drew Brees and Daunte Culpepper, both of whom were coming off surgery. Saban felt Culpepper was the right choice because, for a QB, he felt the rehab and projected return time for a knee injury was favorable to that of a shoulder injury. We’re pretty sure, by the end of the year, Nick Saban was wishing he had a mulligan.

Drew Brees went on the lead the New Orleans Saints to a 10-6 record and won the South Division of the NFC. Culpepper wasn’t able to finish the season, eventually giving his starting position to Joey “Blue Skies” Harrington. With a 2007 base salary of $5.5 million dollars, word out of Miami is that Culpepper could be released.

In giving up Mr. Plasticface, Kansas City seems ready to see if second year QB Brody Croyle can step up and take the starting job. Croyle and Damon Huard (who signed a contract extention this spring) shared snaps with the first team offense during last weekend’s three day mini-camp.
