So some of you probably watched the X-games last night, and some of you probably didn’t. Well for those who didn’t, you missed some amazing television. Jake Brown, a relatively unheralded skater from Australia, had the worst fall in X-games history- maybe the worst ever televised- and certainly one bad enough for Tony Hawk to call it the “heaviest slam we’ve ever seen.” Brown was sitting squarely in first place, pulled off a 720 (much to the delight of the crowd and announcers), and followed it up by falling basically 4 stories onto a wood floor, hitting the ground harder than a Vick-trained labradoodle (too soon?). Seriously, it looked really, really, bad. And then he got up and walked it off. This guy bounces back better than John from Cincinnati. Take all your Chuck Norris jokes, and replace them with Jake Brown jokes. “Jake Brown isn’t hung like a horse; horses are hung like Jake Brown”.

Watching that live was fucking crazy…it had both of us up off the couch standing and staring at the TV. No way should that kid have walked off.
Maybe it’s because we now know he survived and is fine, but that youtube just doesn’t seem to do it justice.
Jeebus. I didn’t see it live but I watched the Youtube like 40 times last night and couldn’t stop cringing. I wonder if we can even run this if what should have happened to him (death and/or Lt. Dan status) did happen.
just as an fyi espn pulled video from youTube but they have it posted now at http://expn.go.com/expn/story?id=2961769
