Nick Saban Complains. We Complain Right Back.

by Brinson on September 7, 2007

What does a house like this say about a man? That’s right… “I am compensating for something…” Now, I should interject that I don’t know for a fact that this is Nick Saban’s new house. It was forwarded to me from a friend, but I have no reason to doubt that it’s his. Still, we’ll use the legally advisable term, “Nick’s alleged new house.”

So, why should Nick’s new digs be a topic of discussion? Because it looks to be way too damn hard to place “For Sale” signs up in front of it. And make no mistake… Alabama fans, and probably even Nick himself, will be placing a sign or two up in the next 4 years.

You see, Nick, who failed to put together two 10-win seasons at LSU and who failed miserably in the NFL… and who had a tendency to lose games that he should not have lost due to poor coaching (See Arkansas in 2002, Iowa in 2005, and the UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA-BIRMINGHAM…) is being hailed as a savior of all that is the Crimson Tide. 92,000 f*cking fans showed up to the Alabama Spring game. That is not school spirit… it is insanity. It is delusion, and it is also the build up of a huge let down.

Did you hear about Nick’s most recent complaints in a Sporting News interview? Apparently every booster at Alabama has been begging to play a round of golf with Saban. Any why not? They most likely paid a large portion of Nick’s ginormous contract – in their minds they should get to have a four-hour long meet and greet. Even more than the expectations that he’ll bring an SEC championship in the next two years, is the expectation that he’ll be there into his Bobby Bowden, wheelchair, kidney dialysis years. Here… read “BamaScoop’s” second post on this message board. They think a man with a proven track record of going to the next bigger and better job will hang around for more than 5 years. What’s better than the Alabama coaching job, you ask? Um, how about a place where the expectations are far lower.

What do you think will happen when Nick loses a few? Perhaps even to Vandy (Saturday, September 8)… Do you think the faithful will rally around their coach? No, they’re gonna throw a brick through his window and shove a “For Sale” sign up his ass. And if they don’t? My guess is the pressure will build so high, that eventually Nick finds solace in a venue where the hopes are high, the expectations are low, the golf is good, and where a builder would be happy to build Nick some a new casa…

Nick will get a longer leash than most coaches. Not saying he will be free of criticism, but with said ginormous contract being gauranteed, Nick’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

He’s 2-0 and already getting rolled in a house he hasn’t even moved into yet.

Wow. Never thought Leo would be a Saban backer. How sad.

I’m no backer, just thought it was funny his house was rolled…
