In an effort to inspire their male counterparts in today’s critical Euro 2008 match, women from Austria and Germany did battle in a soccer match in Vienna. I don’t know what Euro 2008 is, much less even care, so why bother with some women’s match? Because it meets the one criteria for making me interested in a women’s athletic event (even betting on women’s athletics doesn’t make it interesting). They’re topless.
These patriots wore thongs and had their country’s colors painted on their skin. I’ve been saying this for years. If women played topless their ratings would be through the roof. The WNBA is still around only because David Stern and the NBA elect to subsidize their horrible product. If they played shirts and skins and switched at the half, Stern would have a serious cash cow on his hands. Granted, they’d have to start screening out the ugly and less endowed ones, but that should be a general requirement for letting women out of the house during day light anyway.
