Pitchfork’s Top 50 Albums of 08

Pitchforks Top 50

Take a look at Pitchforks Top 50 Albums of 2008 if you’re in the market for some new music (which you always should be, goddamn it) or if you need a few gift ideas. It’s a pretty good list.

My additions would have been Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks (Real Emotional Trash), Black Mountain (In the Future), and maybe the Cold War Kids (Loyalty to Loyalty) somewhere in there. I mean, having fucking Kanye West on there but no Malkmus is a crime. Maybe Malkmus needs some big, geigh sunglasses.

Also see their Best Tracks of 2008.

Feel free to post your agreements, disagreements, and eggnog recipes.

I think Pitchfork should rename the list to “Top 50 Albums of 2008…to cut yourself to”. I have listened to a lot of the stuff on these lists and it is about a 90% that the music is going to be depressing. Vampire Weekend was one of the 10% that wasn’t but the sound got old pretty quickly. Malkmus and the Jicks would have added a little more to the variety. Has anyone heard that Seinfeld mixtape (#36)? Sounds pretty cool.

I saw the CWKs about 2 years ago and wasn’t impressed at all. Although, I like the new album somewhat.

Happy Holidaze!
