Hoops For Hope

by The Piler on January 27, 2009

As you probably already know, NC State icon, Kay Yow, passed away over the week following a long bout with breast cancer.  Yow was, and continues to be, an inspiration to all, both on and off the basketball court.  Yow took cancer head on, both through her personal battle and through fundraising efforts.

I have spoken out before on this blagh about breast cancer and I’ll do it again.  My mother is a survivor and looks to have a solid prognosis going forward.  She was lucky to catch it early and it probably saved her life.  On Sunday February 15th, NC State Women’s basketball will host Hoops for Hope to honor Coach Yow and raise money for the Kay Yow/WBCA  Cancer fund.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids.  I don’t plug women’s basketball ever much, but this is a very worthy event.
