Raleigh Peeps: Wednesday Is Tequila Night at Jibarra

by C. Brahkowski on February 24, 2009

Jibarra Mexican Cuisine and Tequila BarAttention all of you hookers and hustlers who, like me, find yourselves getting a little thirsty by the time Wednesday rolls around. I have a place you should check out. Jibarra Modern Mexican Cuisine and Tequila Bar.

They’ve upgraded from their old location in North Raleigh to downtown in the “Historic Depot building,” which basically means they took a crusty old building and made it hip. It’s what the kids are into these days.

The restaurant serves Mexican/Spanish enfluenced cuisine and it’s absolutely delicious … but I’m more interested in pimping the tequila bar.

As most of you know, I grew up in Texas and have soft spot in my heart for tequila. Jibarra has a 30-seat octogon bar with a Tequila Tower in the middle and they offer over 40 varities of this nectar of the Spanish gods. We’re not talking about the warm bottle of Cuervo you pulled shots from in highschool and college, we’re talking about high quality “sipping” tequilas.

Every Wednesday is Tequila Night, meaning all shots of the Mexican fire water are only $5 … but this week it’s even better because Cazadores will have a rep on hand, and any time a liquor company sends a rep, the booze starts flowing. In addition to the $5 shots, you can sample all three Cazadores tequilas (blanco, reposado, anejo) for $5 total.

$5 shots of tequila in the middle of the week. It’s sexy. It’s dangerous. If you have the huevos, come check it out.

7pm to Midnight. Follow the link above for the address/directions.

Awesome!

With all of fresh fruit purees and fresh squeezed citrus done daily behind the bar, the impressive, yet affordable wine list, and the ambitious craft beer selection combined with such a unique, vibrant décor and friendly staff…you simply can’t find anywhere else in Raleigh or even the triangle quite like Jibarra!

Oh yeah, almost forgot! The food is fantastic and unlike anywhere else as well.

If you can’t hit up tequila night–check out Sunday Brunch(3 courses, bottomless bloody Mary’s(best around-better than Zing Zang), bottomless mimosa’s(guava, mango, pineapple, pear, orange), as well as bottomless coffee. I love Jibarra!

I wish I didn’t own a home in Richmond, or I would relocate for Jibarra. It rules!
