I’ve uttered the phrase “Go State!” thousands of times in my life, almost exclusively in reference to NC State. Tonight I am backing the Spartans of Michigan State. I’m pretty much doubled down on them at this point. They are playing my most hated rival, the Tarheels, and I take down a fairly large NCAA pool if they win. I can’t even really money line the Heels to hedge my bet, as they are sitting at -350. Bastages.
Most UNC folks I have talked to seem pretty confident, almost overconfident. Their boys are peaking at the right time, so maybe it’s justified. They are certainly the more talented team, but I’ll take Izzo over Roy all day. The one thing I am confident in is that Tyler Hansbrough will be crying on One Shining Moment. It’s just a question of whether they will be tears of joy, or tears of defeat with Gerald Henderson’s elbow becoming the defining moment of his career. Go State!
