NC State football coach Tom O’Brien received a huge commitment Tuesday, both literally and figuratively. The presumed number one player for the class of 2010 in North Carolina, Rob Crisp is a mammoth offensive tackle out of Chapel Hill High School, checking in at 6′ 8″ 290 lbs. Crisp is ranked as the number 5 offensive tackle in nation, according to Scout.com, and is a top 100 overall recruit. He is one the most highly sought after prospects in the country, with offers from the likes of Georgia, Miami and Michigan.
Also committing to the Wolfpack Tuesday was Crisp’s teammate and best friend, Pete Singer. Singer is a safety prospect. Crisp was originally slated to announce his decision at the Army All American game, with many other blue chippers. He pulled the trigger early to be a leader for the Wolfpack’s 2010 class and help recruit other big time players. Crisp figures to the cornerstone of O’Brien’s 2010 recruiting class, that already features juco commits Roy Mangram and Tobias Palmer. Mangram and Palmer were originally part of the Wolfpack’s 2008 class before failing to qualify.
