Friday Fixx 9/28
Sep 28th, 2007 by C. Brahkowski
Welcome back my friends to the week that never ends. I’m totally sover it right now, as I’m sure most of you folks are as well. But, the weekend is just a couple hours away, and I can probably get by spending most of the afternoon in the john playing brickbreaker on my Blackberry. Yup, I think I feel a 6 hour utah coming on all right. Anywho, if you haven’t checked out Kigh’s Aural Sex this week, the line-up across the country is pretty much filth this weekend. Stamos got his live music on early this week, seeing a couple of acts at the MetroBravo party last night, and then down to the Oyster Bar to see the band who’s playing the after party at his wedding next spring. And they were pretty much kick-ass. So we’ve got that going. Anywho, we wanted to switch things up a bit this week and give you a taste of some local NC flavor on the Fixx. For you yankees and left-coasters, check out what you’re missing in the dirty south.
So Matty Bones and the Proclivities were one of the bands on display last night at MetroBravo, and while Stamos isn’t a huge indy/emo guy, this band is pretty solid. That said, we always love getting the chance to see local legend Chris Boerner in action, as he tickles the 6-string like no one we know. However, the Proclivities aren’t as good a showcase as some of the other acts he plays with. One of those side projects is known as Mosadi Music. Basically, it’s Boerner, a bass (Nic Slaton), some drums (Matt MacCaughan), and a fantastic singer / rapper, sorta like Lauryn Hill, but this girl wouldn’t rather her own children starve than have a white person buy her album, which is nice (Shirlette Ammons). Anywho, here’s a clip of Mosadi playing in Chapel Hill a few months back. Enjoy.
