Morning Wood: Let’s Do This- Leroy Jenkins
Dec 11th, 2007 by Stamos
If you haven’t noticed to this point, the Brahs tend to have something of their own language. Much of this comes from late night conversations where someone can’t get out an entire word so an abbreviation is born. Other times it stems from someone mishearing a word someone said, and their take on the word replaces the original. Or if we can make a word that sounds like another word and give it a funny meaning. In fact, if you ever are reading Brahsome and find yourself confused as a result of our dynamic diction, check out the dictionary we provide- should help get you back on track. Anywho, last night I was playing Rock Band and tossed out two phrases that have become totally engrained in brahsome conversation and it got me thinking about where all the shit I say comes from. Let’s find out, shall we?
If I tried to explain everything I say, we’d be here all day. So, I’ll pick out a couple things and discuss the origin.
So the first thing I said last night was “Let’s Do This- Leroy Jenkins.” Though when said properly, it sounds more like “Leyuts do this. Leeroooyyyyyyy NNyeerrrrnnnkkkerrrnnnnsssss!!!!” And for those who haven’t seen it, here’s where that comes from (about 1:30 or so in).
The second thing I said was “Coming Up Yes!” which is a derivitive of “Comin up Yeeeaarrrhhh!” which stemmed from “Comingtoyaaaahaaaa!” (and apparently that’s the correct spelling, at least according to imdb). It’s at the end of this terrible, terrible clip.
Another phrase I seem to toss out is “Mmnno My God.” Check that out about 4:00 in. This also includes the standard “Christ” at 3:15.
At the end of the day, though, the one place where more of my eloquece could be attributed than any other (at least as far as phrases per hour in the movie / TV show is concerned- and that distinction is necessary because South Park and Sienfeld and Family Guy, etc, all have given me more than this movie, but only because this is just 1.5 hours long, and and those shows all have tons of episodes to draw from) was Happy Gilmore. Basically every line out of either Happy or Shooter’s mouth was reusable. “Laugh it up- enjoy your night.”
Do you have any phrases you bogarted from a TV show or movie? Let’s hear ‘em.
