Morning Wood: Only in Brahlifornia

scam_of_the_week_logo_black_and_white_2.jpgSo most of the shit I run across in the legal world is boring as hell- liens, restrictive covenants, affidavits of service, blah, blah, blah.  Occasionally, however, I run into something so completely Brahsome that it actually doesn’t make me want to curl up under my desk using a CD case as a pillow, only to later be awoken by my boss yelling, “What the hell are you doing?” (this is known as a “Furr”).  Daniel Boro of San Mateo, California pulled off something so Brahsome, that he’s getting run in the Morning Wood over 20 years after the fact.  You see, Mr. Boro came up with this scheme to defraud dumb whores women into willingly giving up their box to him.  He would call  these young ladies claiming to be Dr. Stevens of Peninsula Hospital and inform them that their blood test revealed they had a contracted a dangerous, highly infectious and perhaps fatal disease from using public toliets.  Somehow, when they didn’t hang up on him he gave them the good news, the disease is treatable by two options.  The first option was a very invasive surgical procedure that cost $9,000, while the second option only cost $4,500 and only required the women to have intercourse with a man who had been injected with a “serum” that would cure the disease.  Dr. Stevens would tell these ladies to check into a hotel and call him with the room number.  Boro would show up as the “volunteer,” save her life and roll out with her cash.  So not only was Mr. Boro pulling box with this scheme, he was picking up $4500 a pop.  Sign me up what a dirt-bag.  Did I mention some of these women were mentally handicapped?  No seriously, they were.  At least they had an excuse.  I don’t think there are words to describe how dumb you must be to fall for something like this.  Mr. Boro finally got caught when one of his “patients” consulted their boss as to which treatment they should receive and the boss called the police.  I wonder how that next performance review went.  On the legal front, Boro actually got out of some of the charges because the acts were technically consensual and the women were  conscious during the whole “treatment.”  This might be the first time I’ve actually thought to myself, “I love the law.”
