The Machine Is a SpreadF*cker

One hell of a Spurs – Lakers game from last night, no? It almost came down to the wire, and it certainly came down to the wire if you bet on the game. Lakers -7 is the rough spread I believe. Maybe you got it at 7.5. Or maybe 6.5. Hell, even 6.

If you played the Spurs at anything ranging between +5 and +7.5 though, Sasha Vuja absolutely spread-effed you. After Tony Parker hit a three to cut the Lakers’ lead to five (97-92) with about 10 seconds left, the Lakers passed the ball into Kobe who passed over the double-foul-team and hit Gasol on the left side. Gasol flicked it cross court to Sasha, who had the ball with time expiring and his team winning. And he inexplicably fired up a three pointer. Even more inexplicably, it went in. Crushing the spread. See for yourself.

If you wagered on the Spurs last night, well, first of all, “Ha-Ha!”. And second of all, “Ouch, babe.” You couldn’t have possibly picked the Lakers at -7.5 or whatever large number, even at home, because it was an elimination game for Timmy!

And from the beginning you looked locked. In fact, after Parker drilled that three, you looked lock. Random prop bet odds on Sasha during the NBA Finals just went to “broken kneecap, 12:1″ as well as “Tim Donaghy-like indictment, 9.5:1″. At the very least, we need a drunken fan to scream at him and capture it on YouTube.
