Oregon Here We Come

Chronic in the Pacific Northwest
There’s a movement going on in Oregon that has the brahsome staff clamoring for a reason to move our headquarters to Portland, Oregon. Or Bend. Or Salem. Or any town in Oregon really.

It’s called Relax it and tax it. And it’s about as brahsome as it gets.

The general idea is that cannibas would be sold in state regulated liquor stores. Wait. State controlled and taxed just like liquor?!?! Why hasn’t anyone ever suggested this before?! It’s ground breaking!

According to the hippies behind the Oregon Cannabis Tax Act, 90 percent of the proceeds from the sale of marijuana would go to Oregon’s General Fund. Supporters believe that the cultivation and sale of cannabis could lead to “$300 million in combined tax revenues and savings to Oregon’s budget.”

83,000 signatures must be gathered over the next two years to get the act on the November 2010 ballot.

Paul Standford, some brah behind this movement destined for unwarranted intervention from the federal government, believes it will also help to curb the illegal sale of weed.

“We want to take marijuana out of the hands of children and substance abusers, who control the market today, and put it in the hands of the state’s liquor control commission and the age limit of 21 will be strictly enforced.”

So what they’re proposing here is that the government treat cannabis like alcohol and tobacco. Regulate it and tax it. That’s it. It’s that simple. Put an age limit on it, sell it legally to keep the “drug dealers” and kids out of it, and make a profit off of it. WHAT IS SO FUCKING COMPLICATED ABOUT THIS IDEA?

Oh, and they’ll have smarter babies, too.

Note: I have no idea who this guy is in the picture, but he sure seems happy.

How much will the government bud sell for? And will it be dank bud? If it’s expensive and poor quality the illegal dealers will still have a market for it.

indeed, Piler..indeed.

I am all for it, however.

Well, as with any market, you’re going to need quality if you’re the new guy on the block….and it’s not like a lot of schwag comes out of the PNW.

I don’t think anyone on the committee has any illusions of ridding Oregon of drug dealers by selling dime bags of schwag.
