At Least the Reception, Um, Has Lots of Food When You Get Married at Waffle House

by Brinson on July 11, 2008

I often thought that nothing could top the infamous Star Wars wedding in terms of insanity at a marriage ceremony. I was wrong. Because two people just got married at a Waffle House.

America, does, in fact, rule.

As the famous twang of Hank Williams Jr. blasted from an SUV stereo Friday afternoon, about 30 folks socialized, sipped soda and puffed on cigarettes.

No, this wasn’t a Fourth of July backyard barbecue. It was the run-up to a wedding.

In a Waffle House parking lot.

The lucky couple, George “Bubba” Mathis and Pamela Christian – both 23 and employees at the Dacula diner located at the Ga. Highway 316/U.S. Highway 29 interchange – wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I don’t know, it’s something different,” Mathis said while fixing his tie prior to the ceremony.

Bwah…bwah…bwahahahahahhahahaha. Hold on — I’m not done…bwahahahahahah. While fixing his tie. Oh my. That is f’ing rich.

And it’s fantastic that these people decided to celebrate their love and the greatness of this country by tying the knot at the Wa-Ho, but really. You got married in a Waffle House parking lot. (Highly, highly recommended is clicking the link for the full gallery of pictures.)

I was a little hesitant to run this post (prabs) because we’ve run into trouble for mocking weird weddings before. Downside is that these rednecks could come all the way to 123 Fake Street in Ducktown, Tennessee and kill us. Upside: they can’t use the internet and we’re fine. I’m willing to take our chances.

Their boss must be an arsehole if he wouldn’t even give them the day off each for their wedding!
Honestly, there’s not many places that would suck more to get married in than the car-park outside your job. Ugh.
