ESPN, citing the Los Angeles Times, is reporting the NFL has hired “experts” to review game film to determine if players are using gang signs in their celebrations.  Who are these experts?  Snoop and Dr. Dre?  Not really all that surprising with the heavy handed Roger Goodell at the helm.  The NFL certainly has an image to uphold, Pac-Man be damned, and gang affiliation won’t help that, but gang signs are kind of brahsome.  I went to the “Rich White” high school in my town, but that didn’t stop us from blaring Easy-E and Bone Thugs like the crackers we were.  I remember when a kid from New York transfered to my high school and came out for football.  He showed me how to make the “Blood” gang sign, pictured upper left, and I thought it was the coolest thing I had ever seen.  My friends and I ran around for a solid year flashing a sign that would have gotten us killed had we acutally ever gone outside the beltline.  I can see it now, below the injury report will be “Gang Signs:  Ray Lewis – Westside Crips. $25,000 fine.”  Next thing you know, Bodog will be putting out odds on what gang symbols players will throw on Sundays.  Now that would be brahsome.  I’d much rather bet on Chris Henry dropping Compton Crips than the Bengals covering -3.
