I am a tremendous AC/DC fan (at least until ESPN decided to take the band out into the pasture and pummel them with a whip every Thursday and Saturday) so, really, the more semi-decent Aussie rock I can get, the better.
But at the same time, I certainly don’t think they deserve their own XM channel. Yes, that’s right. And forgive me if this is old news, but I’m driving someone else’s car this week and it has XM in it. And right below “Lucy” — which rulez — is “AC/DC”. At first I thought it was a joke. But then, lacking coffee on the drive to work this morning, I figured I’d give it a turn and well, wouldn’t you know it.
That’s right, AC/DC have their own XM channel. AC/DC Radio celebrates the band’s awesome career and also preview their upcoming album “Black Ice,” their first studio album in eight years.
You’ll hear AC/DC’s music 24/7, plus band members Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Cliff Williams, Brian Johnson, and Phil Rudd talking about their incredible career.
Listeners will also have the chance to vote for their favorite AC/DC song – the votes will be tallied and played back during the “Ultimate AC/DC Countdown.”
Even better than that absolutely farfetched ridiculi is the fact that there’s a programming list:
12:00 AM – 12:00 PM — AC/DC Radio will air AC/DC music 24/7, including classic rock recordings such as “For Those About To Rock (We Salute You),” “You Shook Me All Night Long,” and “Back in Black” as well as new songs from their Brendan O’Brien produced album, “Black Ice (Columbia). The channel will also feature AC/DC band members Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Cliff Williams, Brian Johnson and Phil Rudd describing their singular rock & roll career spanning more than 30 years and sharing their personal insights into their music. The band will also guide listeners through an exclusive preview of every track on “Black Ice.”

I am a longtime Sirius subscriber. (Stern!) They have had a Stones channel, a Who channel, a Dead channel, a Springsteen channel and now and AC/DC channel.
It lasts like a month, then on to something else.
Oh, also: I have been listening to this shit for like two days and secretly love it. Doesn’t make it less incredulous for it to exist, but I do enjoy it.
Yeah, there was a Led Zepplin channel on XM for a while and now it’s gone.
