Amid the North Carolina – Tyler Hansbrough suck-off-fest that was ACC media day recently, it came to Gary Williams’ attention that the Terrapins were picked to finish seventh in the ACC this year (Ed. Note: We’re not going to talk about where the Pack was picked, kthxbai.) Obviously, he was not that pleased.
That’s based on his belief that people forgot all about his natty title back in 2002. Or, apparently is, based on his comments about the Dookies and recent success.
In the eyes of some, the school’s national title in 2002 looks like a distant memory.“Some people think it is ancient history,” Maryland Coach Gary Williams said. “It is not as ancient history as Duke’s last title” in 2001.
Buuuuuuuuuuurn. Of course, Coach K and the B-Plugs still dance every year, so there’s not all that much that Gary can say. Also: scoreboard, in terms of titles. But still, there’s nothing like a little fuel to the fire of a rivalry in which I can never actually pick a team for whom to root.
Maybe they’ll just get in a huge fight and burn Cameron Indoor to the ground.
