Well folks, after months of build-up election day is finally here. I am personally glad it’s almost over because it brings out the worst in a lot of people. Take, for instance, the above youtube. A Chapel Hill McCain supporter took matters into his own hands after his McCain-Palin sign was stolen from his yard twice. Big shocker a McCain supporter didn’t go over well in Chapel Hill, but that’s a whole ‘nother post. An electrical engineer by trade, he hooked up the sign to an electrical current and put a camera in the tree above. Sure enough, some little boy comes along and gets a handfull of volts. It was just enough to scare him, but not do any harm. After running home crying to daddy, the police were called, but no charges were ultimately filed. Some may be outraged that the McCain supporter would go to the trouble to actually shock people. I’m outraged that the little guy was stealing signs in the first place. Where do you think he got the idea? He sure as heck didn’t come up with it on his own. His d-bag dad put him up to it, then had the stones to say the kid just wanted to see how the sign was put together. Right, buddy.
I’ve seen a lot of that this election season, vile hatred on both sides of the aisle. I certainly disagree with a lot people’s politics, but I always respect their right to have those ideas. That’s what makes this country so great, the freedom to choose. If people actually focused this negative energy on actual problems and working together, something might actually get accomplished by the government. Regardless of whether your candidates win or lose, rest easy knowing you had a voice.
