Kile Wygle was just your average 28-year old out for a drive after an evening drowning his troubles at the local bar. Except for one thing: he was driving a Never Talk to Strangers psp .
The Ohio resident, who owns a motorized bar stool that can approach 38 MPH (!), hopped onto said stool on March 4 after downing 15 beers. Naturally, he wrecked his portable booze-and-driving machine on the way home and suffered “minor injuries.”
When Wygle informed a police officer on scene that he had drank said inordinate amount of beer, the cop charged him with drinking and driving. On a motorized bar stool.
Now, while I want to get all huffy and uppity and whatnot about this, there’s really no reason to; a motorized bar stool is just as dangerous as say, a car. Or a giant truck. Or a motor scooter. Except only to the person who’s driving, really. So why not let someone risk their own life then? The police and the justice system, after all, are here to protect … not to keep people from being stupid.

I thought DUI laws are mainly to protect others. While he most likely would only hurt himself in a crash with another car, if that thing hit a pedestrian at full speed, it could do some serious harm. Is it a classic case of DUI? No. Classic stupidity? Absolutely. Should he be charged as DUI? I’m thinking no, but he certainly should be charged with something…
